There are many aspects which make staying in the ‘Hotel with Heart’ in Flachau particularly special, but the following list shows my selection of the top 11 reasons which quickly make it clear why a holiday in Tirolerhof is such an excellent idea:
1) My Hotel with Heart
I can only experience a warm welcome and authentic Austrian hospitality in a family-run hotel like the Tirolerhof. Every guest here is personally greeted on arrival and warmly welcomed as a member of the big Tirolerhof family. The self-chosen slogan, ‘the Hotel with Heart’ is not a marketing ploy, it’s the honest philosophy of the company. The Oberreiter/Fischbacher host family lives for the hospitality industry and personally works in the hotel every day, with all their heart and soul. The hotel is not the workplace of the family, it’s their big ‘living room’. A member of the host family can always be found at the reception or somewhere in the hotel complex and is always happy to have a personal chat with me or give me some insider tips for excursions and other holiday activities.
2) My Tirolerhof Team
The whole Tirolerhof team follows the example set by the Oberreiter/Fischbacher family and works everyday with lots of joy and passion. The staff are part of the big Tirolerhof family and the hosts always listen to any concerns the team may have. There’s probably no other explanation as to why there are so many core employees in the Tirolerhof who have been there so long, they are practically ‘part of the furniture’, and who are personally very much appreciated by many guests.
3) My Perfect Location
One of the most important reasons for my decision to holiday here is the optimum location of the hotel. The idyllic location at around 950m (3,117ft) above sea level, central but peaceful nonetheless, on a small, sunny plateau, within walking distance from the town centre of Flachau, makes the hotel the ideal base for an any type of holiday in both summer and winter. Flachau profits a lot from its direct motorway access, which guarantees the town can be reached quickly from all directions and also means the small, pleasant town is perfectly situated for unforgettable excursions and exciting expeditions to other skiing and hiking regions. The Flachau valley is approx. 70km (43 miles) from the city of Salzburg and is surrounded by beautiful mountains and natural scenery. Flachau is located in the "Snow Space Salzburg" skiing region, which forms part of the famous Ski amadé, one of the most diverse winter sports areas in Europe with over 760 kilometres (472 miles) of pistes and 270 ski lifts.
4) My Direct Chair Lift Access
The Tirolerhof is just 50 metres from the base station of the ‘Star Jet 1’ in Flachau. In the winter, that means skiing almost right up to the front door and pure ski pleasure for my whole family without stress and crowds on the ski bus or the strenuous search for a parking space. The ski school, with the practice slope and the baby lift, is also very close to the hotel. Everything I need for my dream ski holiday in Flachau, the home of Olympic champion Hermann Maier.
Also in the summer, the ‘Star Jet’, close to the town centre, with continuous operation from the start of June to the end of September, is my Flachau hiking lift. The base station is just a two-minute walk from the hotel! With its diverse hiking routes, beautiful mountain peaks, crystal-clear lakes and rustic alpine huts, the Salzburg Sportwelt is my number 1 hiking tip in Austria. A wide valley floor with gently rising mountain ridges, wonderful alpine pastures and peaks to truly conquer await my loved ones and I in and around Flachau.

Traditional elements and modern comfort, which offer all amenities, are combined in the Tirolerhof, creating a harmonious ambience. All the facilities in the ‘Hotel with Heart’ combine modern furnishings with numerous traditional elements from the region, which were selected by the host family with great attention to detail and create an especially cosy atmosphere. Nearly every day here, I discover a new favourite space and personal haven to relax and recover from the stress of everyday life.
6) My Perfect Holiday Time and Time Again
Depending on the season, up to 80% of holidaymakers in the Tirolerhof are regular guests who have remained loyal to the ‘Hotel with Heart’ for many years, or even decades, and enjoy spending the most beautiful time of the year in Flachau time and time again. In addition to the large number of regular guests, the high guest satisfaction can also be seen in the consistently positive online hotel reviews. My host family highly values personal relationships with their guests and always surprises us with extremely special and unique holiday highlights, for example, as part of the Regular Guest Week in September, when the programme includes joint picnics and guided hikes with the manager, elegant gala evenings, exciting surprise activities and much more.
7) My Wellness Oasis
I can’t think of anything better than a relaxing sauna session, a refreshing jump in the pool or a soothing treatment to do some good and recharge the batteries after an intense day skiing or hiking. To allow those seeking peace and quiet to switch off from the stress of everyday life as they desire, some areas in the diverse four-star hotel complex are exclusively open to adults (from 16 years). The wonderful AlmRuh Spa with its beautiful outdoor Sky infinity pool and diverse Sauna area is my absolute favourite space in the hotel complex. In this adults-only area, relaxation and recovery are guaranteed for couples, individual travellers or parents and grandparents looking for a little peace and quiet.
8) My Family Programme
A holiday at the Tirolerhof is not only perfect for couples just falling in love or solo travellers looking to relax. As a hotel for families and activities, great value is also placed on providing an excellent cross-generational offer for the whole family. The Tirolerhof offer perfectly meets the needs of families with children and, thanks to the supervised children's and youth club and the diverse indoor and outdoor facilities in the spacious hotel complex, there will certainly be no boredom. In addition to the hotel’s diverse entertainment programme for young and old, a holiday at the Tirolerhof should under no circumstances miss out on relaxation for the whole family. The popular Family Spa with a dream-like indoor Panorama swimming pool, cosy pine relaxation room, an infra-red cabin and a family textile sauna promises both fun and relaxing moments for my whole family.
9) My Natural Holiday Pleasure
A few years ago, my Tirolerhof was certified as a Climate Alliance company for exemplary behaviour and supporting climate protection measures by the Salzburg Environment Service. Of course, you don’t get such a great award for no reason. From the solar and photovoltaic systems on the roof and the use of invigorating ‘Grander’ drinking water to the recycling of collected rainwater as service water and consciously purchasing fresh, regional, organic products of the highest quality... My host family in the Tirolerhof highly values responsibly sourcing the valuable resources of the environment.
10) My Variety of Enjoyment
Cuisine is of great importance in my ‘Hotel with Heart’. Traditional Austrian delicacies and internationally loved dishes are prepared daily by the busy Tirolerhof kitchen team with a great deal of commitment and attention to detail. The hotel manager Michael also cooks himself, and this passion for good food and the high quality of the products used can be tasted in every single bite. The perfect wine for every taste and every dish can be found on the extensive and carefully hand-picked Tirolerhof wine menu. The wine tasting with sommelier and junior manager Martin in the wine cellar in the hotel’s own underground village square is one of my absolute holiday highlights of every stay.

During the summer season, the Flachau Summer Card, which I receive free of charge in the hotel for a stay of two or more nights, includes a diverse family and activity programme with daily guided adventure hikes, fun sports activities, a free trip up and down the mountain with the Flachau cable car, attractive discounts with numerous partners, and much more. In addition to the family activity programme included free of charge in the Flachau Summer Card, numerous other exciting outdoor activities are offered by the Flachau Sport- & active center. In the winter, my holiday programme is mostly filled with skiing or snowboarding on the best prepared pistes in the middle of Austria’s largest ski area – of course followed by a proper après ski as, thanks to its top gastronomy and exciting local scene, Flachau is considered the party centre of the region. But cross-country skiing, tobogganing, horse-drawn sleigh rides and many other exciting snow adventures, such as snowbiking, riding segways and snowshoeing are also very popular in Flachau. Pure pleasure is pre-programmed for me!
