Hiking and mountaineering in the 'Salzburg Sportwelt'

My Peak Victory and Leisurely Hikes

With its diverse hiking routes, gently rising mountain ridges, beautiful mountain peaks, crystal-clear lakes and rustic alpine huts, the Salzburg Sportwelt is one of the most popular hiking regions in Austria. The journey is the destination and experiencing nature (but also the tasty snacks in one of the many cosy huts) is the reward. Whether it’s on an individual tour or with local guides on a guided hike – the perfect offer is always available in Flachau, for young and old, for beginners and climbing experts, for practised athletes and for the whole family.

Guided Hikes

During the summer in Flachau, experience hikes are led every day with professional guides at differing degrees of difficulty and focussing on a variety of topics. Participation is free with the Flachau Summer Card (free of charge if staying two or more nights in Flachau).

Many Reasons to Go on a Hiking Holiday in the Tirolerhof and Flachau

  • Altitude of Flachau approx. 950m (3,117ft) above sea level, making it the ideal base for stunning hiking trips and true peak victories
  • Lift open from end of May/start of June to start of October (‘Star Jet 1’ valley station right next to the Tirolerhof!)
  • Variety of well-signposted hiking trails in the immediate vicinity - our hotel is located directly on the hiking trail network
  • Many cosy and rustic alpine huts and mountain inns with tasty Austrian delicacies on the menu
  • Various themed walks ("Flori’s Erlebnispfad", "Weg der guten Wünsche", "Wasser bewegt", and many more)
  • Excellently equipped sport rental
  • Sportwelt hiking bus (just €1.00 per trip with guest card)
  • Daily guided hikes with local guides
  • Tirolerhof’s own daily entertainment programme (with at least one guided hike by the host family per week etc.)
  • Special hiking packages in the Tirolerhof
  • Hiking library at the Tirolerhof reception with maps to borrow free of charge
  • Personal trip suggestions and excursion tips from the host family and the whole Tirolerhof team any time
  • Backpacks and trekking poles to lend (limited quantity)

HIKING TIP

Margaretha Oberreiter, Tirolerhof manager and passionate ‘mountain goat’

I always recommend checking the weather forecast for the mountains before every hike and adapting to the changing conditions with suitable hiking equipment. The basic equipment you will need includes proper hiking shoes with grip, waterproofs and warm clothing, sun protection, headgear and of course enough to eat and, above all, drink. A first-aid kit and map are also helpful - especially for longer hikes.
